Problem Solving

Problem Solving

We are researching how we can support the development of problem solving skills amongst our participants as a means of expressing resilience during periods of change.

Problem solving

We are looking at problem solving in the broadest sense, in terms of how children cope with the challenges they face, not just in terms of academic school work.

We are particularly interested in  how contextual factors, such as having access to trusted adults and feeling like being part of a group, impact on children's persistence and confidence in using generic problem solving strategies, for example breaking a problem down or studying solutions to similar problems. We are also interested in how these contextual factors impact on children's perception of problem solving in specific domains, particularly maths.
